Above Ground Swimming Pools

Swimming pools are very popular these days, proving to be one of the best investments you can make for your home and your family.  If you live in an area that is known for a hot climate, a swimming pool can be an ideal way to cool off.  You can have friends over at your pool to have fun, or use it to teach your kids how to swim.  Although many people prefer an in ground pool, an above ground pool is just as good – if not better.

Above ground swimming pools are well known for three reasons – safety, installation, and maintenance.  All types of swimming pools can be a chore to maintain, as you have to clean it on a daily basis and ensure that you have the right balance of chemicals in the water.  You also have to keep an eye on the temperature as well, and keep objects such as leaves out of the water.

Above ground pools are easier to maintain for the simple reason of being above ground.  In ground pools are down low, meaning that debris can easily get into it, and animals such as dogs, cats, and even squirrels have easy access to it.  Above ground pools on the other hand are a bit higher up, and make it hard for animals and debris to gain access to the water.  Those of you who are looking for a pool that requires less maintenance – should look into an above ground swimming pool.

Above ground pools are also safer for children as well.  Children can easily fall into in ground pools, for the simple fact that they are low to the ground.  With an above ground pool, children have to climb a ladder before they can get in the water.  This can make it hard for children to gain access, which is exactly what you want.  If you have young children at your house, you can count on an above ground pool to provide a sense of security.

Unlike in ground pools, above ground swimming pools are much easier to install, as you can do it yourself.  You can choose a professional if you like, although above ground pools are so easy to install that anyone can do it.  With these types of pools, there is no digging up your yard or other dangers involved.  All you need to do is clean off an area of your property for the pool, then set everything up.  It normally takes just a few hours to set up your pool, which makes it a very time efficient way of having a swimming pool.

Above ground pools are also cost efficient as well.  Most above ground swimming pools cost nearly 1/4 the price of an in ground pool, making them affordable for even those who on a tight budget.  There are several sizes to choose from, from the smallest and cheapest to the largest.  Even if you get a large model, the prices are still very affordable.  This way, your entire family can have a pool to enjoy in the summer without going broke in the process.

With an above ground swimming pool, you can spend quality time with your family without leaving your home.  Even though there are responsibilities and maintenance involved with a swimming pool, its well worth it.  If you have been looking for a great swimming pool, you can rest assured that an above ground pool is well worth the time – and the money.

Question by Willy P Shady: what chemical in swimming pools make it dangerous to swim in lightning?
Is there a conductive chemical in swimming pools that make swimming during a lightning storm dangerous? Would swimming in pure water with no chemicals be safe in a lightning storm?

Thanks a bundle guys.

The Best Way To Set Up You Above Ground Swimming Pool Skimmer

This is often the time of year when folks throughout the country kick back and luxuriate in their pools. A lot of these swimming pools need recurring upkeep to keep them dirt free and freed from flotsam and jetsam. A particularly useful gizmo is the pool skimmer; it’s among the best items it is possible to come up with.

Well,, what exactly is a pool skimmer? It is a practical gadget for removing leaves and insects; many units are integrated in the swimming pool system while others are manually operated. A mesh basket or screen filter is incorporated in the unit to catch the twigs bugs, foliage and other trash and keep it from going into the pool’s filtration system. The built-in version is a part of a filtration system that pushes water into the filter and removes the bacteria, and sanitizes it before distributing it into the swimming pool.

Quite a lot of the twigs and other small stuff are forced through the water by the current created by the swimming pool pump. The bits and pieces flows through to a basket or mesh trap before entering the pump area. The static skimmer ie employed quite a lot in many backyard pools.

The most widely used is the static skimmer that is installed within the most private (backyard) pools. These rely on maintaining the water level of the pool to operate properly or have a limited effect using the surface tension of the water to attract floating debris.

A more practical solution is the floating pool skimmer; this sort connects into the vacuum plate over the leaf basket in the static skimmer unit using a hose like one connects a pool vacuum.

The benefit with the sort of skimmer is that it always skims at optimum performance because it moves up and down with the water. It has an extremely fine fast moving skim that has a far wider ranging effect on the surface tension of the water as well as being able to be placed in the strategic position in the pool.

How do i install a skimmer for a above ground swimming pool?

“The safest way to cut the holes needed for the skimmer box and return line is to construct the pool entirely and start filling it. Allow the pool to fill about half way in order to set the liner in place. The weight of the water pushes the liner to the wall as well as in its permanent position). At this point your swimming pool is completely finished apart from cutting the holes for and installing the skimmer and return.

Wear some shorts and get in the pool. Meet your helper at the precut metal wall openings. Your collaborator is outside the swimming pool facing the openings. First take the return fitting apart. There are just two pieces to the return.

Your companion will be able to cut the outline as you push the liner through the hole. At this point, you will be holding it steady as your partner finishes cutting. Push the return unit through when you are done cutting, and have the nut screwed on and tightened.

Now you’ll need to install the skimmer. The skimmer also is supplied in two parts; a face plate and the box. The face-plate affixes to the wall on the inside while the box hangs on the outside of the pool.

Attach the screws to the skimmer box while the two of you hold the unit still. Once all the screws are in place, tighten each securely. Now the next step is cut out the liner in the skimmer plate. You are done; your swimming pool now has a skimmer to catch materials, tree branches, leaves and other debris in your water. Get out there and enjoy your pool.

Have your helper line up the skimmer box on the outside of the swimming pool and fasten the screw you poked through to the skimmer box. Repeat this until all of the screws are in place and tighten. Your skimmer is now set and the only thing left to accomplish is cut the liner around the inside of the skimmer plate to create an opening. This procedure is actually harder to explain than it is to truly do. Just remember- when doubtful- cut small. You are able get a great pool that will virtually clean itself.
